MU Extension Hosting 3rd Annual Sheep & Goats Field Day – Registration Deadline is July 25

OSCEOLA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Extension invites livestock producers, small ruminant enthusiasts, and industry professionals to attend the 3rd Annual Sheep & Goats Field Day on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the MU Southwest Research, Extension and Education Center (SWREEC), located at 14548 State Road H, Mount Vernon, Missouri.

This educational event will feature a variety of expert-led presentations and hands-on demonstrations focused on key topics in sheep and goat production, including:

• Hoof Care – Dr. Celeste Morris, DVM, University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center

• All Things Forages for Sheep and Goats – Dr. Harley Naumann, MU Extension Forage & Grazing Specialist

• First Aid for Sheep and Goats – Dr. Kirk Hubbard, Highland Animal Hospital, Illinois

• On-Farm Biosecurity – Dr. Corinne Bromfield, DVM, University of Missouri Swine Production Medicine

• Virtual Fencing (Live Demonstration) – Kaitlyn Dozler, MU Center for Regenerative Agriculture

• “Ask the Veterinarian” Q&A Session – Dr. Sarah Reinkemeyer, DVM, Missouri Department of Agriculture, and Dr. Kirk Hubbard

• Reproductive Management (AI and Embryo Transfer) – Dr. Thomas Jordan, Assistant Professor, University of Missouri

• FAMACHA Certification – Dr. David Brown, MU Extension, and Linda Coffey, NCAT/ATTRA Livestock Specialist

The registration fee is $25 per person, which includes refreshments, a buffet-style lunch featuring lamb kebabs and meatballs, educational materials, and access to vendor resources.
